Meet the Herbalist

Alana Sereno is a Clinical Herbalist, gardener and lover of all things nature. She began her relationship with herbs as a child, as her mother was a huge advocate for finding ways to heal the body with plants. This reassured Alana at a very young age, that the human body is a highly intelligent and beautiful creation, capable of thriving with the right support.

As an adult, she continued to seek out ways of healing from both physical and emotional imbalances in ways outside of the conventional medical system. This fed her curiosity to begin the path of studying herbs.

Beginning in 2019, Alana began working at a medicinal herb farm and retreat center in Berne, NY. During her time there, she learned how to grow, harvest and process various herbs for tinctures, teas and skin care. Once the 2020 growing season had ended, she continued her journey south, to understand the wider range of medicinal plants that grow throughout the US.

As luck would have it, during her travels, Alana met a wonderful family from Vinegar Bend, Alabama, who introduced her to one of her many amazing teachers, Phyllis Light. Over that next year, Alana would relocate to Arab, Alabama to study with Phyllis, learning traditional techniques of Southern Folk Medicine; a blend of Indigenous and European methods of healing and wisdom.

Continuing her studies in the south, Alana moved back north to expand her knowledge by attending Arbor Vitae School of Traditional Herbalism in New Paltz, NY. Here she studied under Clinical Herbalists, Claudia Keel, Richard Mandelbaum and Samuel Perry. In May of 2024, Alana completed the full clinical program, with trainings in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, American Herbalism and more.
